American Leprosy Missions invites you to join us in the fight against leprosy by celebrating World Leprosy Day on Sunday, January 30, 2011.

Leprosy is not just an ancient, biblical disease; hundreds of thousands of people still contract this devastating disease each year and millions more suffer from its terrible consequences. Nerve endings die and ulcers form. Fingers and toes are lost. Faces shrink and deform. Eyes go blind. And sufferers face difficult lives of shame, isolation, pain and disability.

This forgotten disease is still a cruel reality in developing countries. Since 1954, churches around the world have joined together on World Leprosy Day to reach out with love and compassion to those affected by leprosy.

All of the materials you will need to participate in World Leprosy Day are available on this website. You may also request them by calling 1.800.543.3135.

If World Leprosy Day does not fit into your church schedule, please consider other ways to serve those suffering from leprosy. American Leprosy Missions would be pleased to partner with your church by sending:

  • materials about leprosy and ALM’s ministry
  • a speaker to address your congregation
  • a DVD and speaker’s kit for someone at your church to use
  • vacation Bible school materials

Please call 1.800.543.3135 for more information.

We hope that you will prayerfully consider joining us in the fight against leprosy and related diseases in Jesus’ name.

“Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse those who have leprosy... Freely you have received, freely give.”  Matthew 10:8
